 walt-we are learning to write persuasive speech writing

Hi my name is Teina

One day I hit my head on a table while playing at home. It hurt! My black labrador called Bella, looked at me and knew that I was , She lifted her paw and rested it on my shoulder as if she was saying “are you ok?”. 

I think that she felt emotion and saw me as her equal. So do you think that humans should see animals as the same? 

The book ‘Beyond Words; Do animals think and feel’ written by Carl Safina suggests that animals have thought processes, emotions, and social connections that are as important to them as they are to us.

I think that animals deserve the same care as people, but they do also need discipline and guidance so that they can socialise and behave well. 

Sort of like raising a child. 

How  would you feel if you got left outside and tied up all day every single day? You wouldn't like it right. You would be FREEEEZZZIINNGGG…..So Stop and think .

I can't  even think about animal abuse. It makes me really sad. When I searched animal abuse - I couldnt view the images. 

Spca looks after dozens of animals. It stands for the ‘Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’. This was set up to help keep animals safe.  And did you know that about 3000!!! Dogs put down each year if they can not find new homes for animals in the care of the SPCA. 

More than 200 million animals are killed for food around the world every day. Yes, we eat cows in our mcdonalds, we eat lamb at family functions cooked over a fire….but there are some countries that eat dogs, cats, turtles and even mice. Maybe for survival, cultural reasons or to sell and make a living in street food markets.

Bella, Jesse & Sir meows a lot - the names of my family pets …. if we didn't care about them then we wouldn’t give them a name like we would a human. By naming our pets, we give them a sense of home, we show them that they are loved, that they are safe and that they are part of our family - because they truly are.

I liked writing my speech and adding in my interesting facts. I didn't like when i had to have a lunch break and having to do my chores . It was so hard because i used all my ideas so i waited and waited for more ideas.
